In recent years, the University has forged strong links with industry. Spin-off companies from the University have played a large part in creating the centre for high technology that the city of Cambridge has now become.
Known as 'Silicon Fen', the region is host to a great number of small and large companies housed in science and business parks, creating wealth and high levels of employment for all who live in and around Cambridge.
