Applicant Information


The University of Cambridge Department of Engineering is situated behind the Royal Cambridge Hotel on Trumpington Street, about 10 minutes walk from the city centre and the bus station on Drummer Street, and 20 minutes walk from the railway station.

Access by Car

There is no parking available on site for visitors and no drop-off area is available (except for disabled visitors by ). Please do not attempt to drive to the Department.

If you need to arrive by car we strongly recommend using the Park and Ride service which is available from a number of sites around the periphery of Cambridge. The closest public parking garage is at Queen Anne's Terrace.

Access by Public Transport and Cycle

We have a downloadable flyer which explains how to get to the Department by public transport and by cycle.

The University's "U-Universal" bus service will be running a special open-day timetable which you can download here. The U bus runs between all major university sites and the railway station. The stop for the department is "Fitzwilliam Museum Stop ID: CMBDGDMJ", timings are between Brooklands Avenue and Silver Street.
